(Community Supported Agriculture)

CSA models differ somewhat from farm to farm, but in general terms members sign up and pay in advance for a share of produce which they pick up weekly during the harvest season. The up-front commitment from members allows the farmer to more efficiently and effectively grow his/her crops.

Meanwhile, members are more connected to their local food system and have a personal connection to the farm, other members, and the people growing their food. Plus, members receive wonderful, fresh local food in season, often receiving varieties that are not available in the grocery store. CSA is often the next best thing to growing your own.
