Sponsor A Tree

In celebration of the farm's 20th anniversary, we planted lots of baby trees, consisting of hundreds of varieties. This is an exciting time for our farm; one full of hope and promise for the future of fabulous food. We invite you to be a part of our new adventure by sponsoring a tree or two (or more). It is a great gift for yourself or your friends and family. A tree also makes a lovely memorial for a friend or loved one. As the trees grow and bear fruit, you'll know you helped to flavor the future. The video to the left shows a number of the sponsors who were here at an open house we had when some of the babies were little more than sticks in the ground.

Plantings include white and yellow peaches, Asian pears, and roughly 300 varieties of apples. Apples varieties will include favorites like Gold Rush as well as antique and unique varieties such as Itzstedter Apfel, Kandil Sinap, Bloody Ploughman, and Cinnamon Spice (see our blog post, 141, for more about all the new apple varieties). Flavor and biodiversity have always been very important aspects of our farm, and we're going for exactly that with this new planting!

Sponsoring a tree will help us give it a great start on its journey to becoming healthy and productive. Trees require several years of attentive care and training before they begin to bear fruit. They are rather like children that way; we, as loving parents, train them and tend them and look forward to the day when they become successful adults. We invite you to help us nurture these orchard youngsters as they begin their journey toward adulthood. Below is a video of our gang of helpers planting the trees.

Sponsors will receive:

1. A hand-written note card thanking you for being a sponsor, or announcing the gift(s) of a sponsored tree.

2. A picture of their sponsored tree, which will be tagged with an embossed copper tag.

3. A special-edition canvas totebag.

4. The sponsor's name will be included on a map of the entire planting.

5. Updates on the progress of the growth of all the sponsored trees via email. We'll let you know what's going on during the different seasons of the year.

6. ....and more as the years go on!

If any portion of your order is a gift, you'll let us know during the ordering process. As soon as you place your order, we'll email you requesting your recipient's contact information, so we can be sure they get all that a sponsor should!
